Thomas Hearne

Tom Hearne has been advising, consulting, and mentoring growing organizations for nearly 25 years. He managed the health care banking business of Smith Barney & Co. and then Prudential Securities.

After deciding he wanted to live his own life by the principals he believed in, Tom has developed a successful career as an executive coach. He has worked with executives from his former firms, as well as Morgan Stanley, UBS, and others. Tom is a Certified Empowerment Coach, as recognized by the International Coaching Federation and is Certified by GenosĀ® for Emotional Intelligence Assessment.

As an investment banker and adviser his clients included dozens of growing health care and technology companies. His transactional experience ranged from private placements to initial public offerings to mergers, acquisitions and financial advisory assignments. Health care clients included: Mediplex, Orthodontic Centers of America, Oxford Health Plans, Value Health, Marsam Pharmaceuticals, and Pathogenesis. Technology clients included: Compaq Computer, Marquette Electronics, Danek Group and Conceptis Technologies. Though some went on to become well known among investors, each of these were clients at the emerging growth stage of development.

Tom is also an experienced entrepreneur: he was a founder and CEO of a medical company developing a new imaging technology. Founding Heron Coaching, Tom refocused his broad experience as mentor and financial adviser in order to address the significant need for coaching among senior executives in emerging growth companies. Examples of recent and current clients: Head of Research of a venture capital-backed, now publicly traded biotechnology company; a Canon in the Episcopal Diocese of NY; the CEO of large New York not-for-profit; Partner of $2B real estate development company; SVP-International risk manager of mortgage lending company; and Controller for publicly traded technology company.

Tom is active in the Episcopal Church, National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, and the Episcopal Mission in Haiti. He enjoys marathon running, sea kayaking, backpacking and fly fishing.
